Create rules for calculating children's prices in this section.
Set pricing for children’s age ranges in cases where derivation and/or setting pricing does not fulfill the requirements necessary.
To proceed with the creation, click here:
A page returns with the prompt to create a name for the family discount:
Insert the name for this family discount and then click Add.
The following page will open:
Next to each room, by clicking on Insert new rule, it is possible to create the rule.
Here is an example of a family discount:
An algebraic rule that can calculate the final price of the child/children is inserted into the family discount policy.
The family discount will ONLY calculate this price and not the total room price.
On #4 of the example above, 2 adults + 1 child, we will assign a price of $0 for the child.
Below is the screenshot of the steps for creating the rule:
RULE
Name: we recommend entering the name relating to the combination of adults/children.
If: the box allows (by selecting numbers, arithmetic operators, and logical operators) to set the cases for which the price of €0 must be applied (therefore 2 adults and 1 child). It is essential to respect the syntax as above. This box fills itself in using the virtual keyboards shown below.
Numbers: virtual keyboard used to indicate the number of adults and children.
Arithmetic operators: virtual keyboard for adding, dividing, subtracting, etc.
Logical operators: virtual keyboard used to link the various entries of the rule.
Drop-down menu- use the menu to select the elements (such as occupancy of adults and children) needed to create the rule.
TOTAL PRICE OF CHILDREN
Numbers: virtual keyboard used to define the price and/or rule of the formula.
Arithmetic operators: virtual keyboard for adding, dividing, subtracting, etc.
Price elements: use the menu to define the rule
Once everything has been defined, select Save.
We recommend creating the family discount on the type of room that allows the most occupancy variations as it is possible to import/clone the family discount from one room to another.
Once saved, the rule looks like this:
Modify existing rules using the icon or eliminate the rule by selecting the icon.
An initial check to test if the rule applies correct pricing can be carried out using the “Room rule test” option:
The following page will open. Insert the values necessary to test the rule:
After clicking on Test, the result will appear:
Correct: the rule formula has been created correctly.
Applicable: the formula is correct and applicable where the test is being carried out.
Applied: a check appears if applied.
Price: if correct, applicable, and applied, defines the total price of the child.
In the case created above, the rule is correct BUT not applicable to the tested room type.
In order to work, the family discount must be associated with the rate plans that it will be associated with in order to be valid. Complete this step at Prices and availability > Products - Rariffs > Products (Rate Types), open the desired product, and select the family discount in the final section of the rate plan configuration.
